Bill Kimmerly, one of the owners of the brewery, and Kimberly Carreras an employee of the brewery, sat down with me to talk about their farmers market and plans for the future.

“ I don’ t remember who was the originator of the idea but it was clearly between Kimberly and I, for different reason. I’ m looking for events for the brewery to boost attendance. Get people to come back regularly,” said Bill.
He said the farmers market fits in well because he likes to do events that provide opportunities for other businesses, for networking purposes and for putting into people’ s minds the idea that the brewery is a place for socializing.
“ So, that’ s what I saw as the value of it,” he said and then said that Kimberly was coming at in from a different angle.
Kimberly said she thought both Bill and the other owner of the brewery, Harrison Isaacs, were inspired by her story of moving to Colquitt County. She moved here to start a farm, she said.
She said, since Colquitt County was a large agricultural county, she thought that there would be farmers markets all over and places to buy local produce.
“ But you really have to know the farmers to get food from the farmers,” she said.
She said she pushed for having the farmers market because Bandwagon Brewing Company had the space, a community space that was family friendly.
“ I’ m very passionate about health and I’ m passionate about supporting local businesses … and community. I think that’ s so important. I feel like a farmers market will really bring people together and it’ ll be a place for people to go every week or maybe every other week. So, they can get local produce for the week,” she said.
