Known for its work in natural resource management, particularly for efforts to improve habitats for threatened and endangered plants and animals and its award-winning interpretive programming, Reed Bingham State Park surrounds a 375-acre lake that is also a major boating and water-skiing attraction in South Georgia. Fishing is excellent.
Reed Bingham covers a total land area of 1,613 acres. Daily activities at the park include boating( canoe and kayak rentals are available), fishing, picnicking, camping, hiking on the Coastal Plain Nature Trails, miniature golf, biking and volleyball. There are also two playgrounds. The lake features a beach area for swimming, three boat ramps and two ADA-accessible fishing piers.
Campsites include 46 tent, trailer, RV campsites( 18 full hook-up sewer sites) with cable TV hookups available to rent; the Pioneer Campground; Eagle Island paddle-in campsite; seven picnic shelters; and four group shelters that seat between 50 and 120 people.
The Coastal Plain Nature Trails is a system of interconnecting hiking-biking trails with extensive boardwalks and wildlife viewing areas. Approximately 78 percent of the plant communities occurring in the Coastal Plain, including the carnivorous pitcher plant, can be found along these trails, making them some of the most diverse in the country.
