The Sowega Council on Aging is an aging and disability resource center that helps connect seniors and disabled people to a range of resources like meals, personal care services, ramp programs, transportation, activities, trips, caregiver programs, legal services, and more.
It serves more than 60,000 seniors and disabled adults annually in 14 counties across southwest Georgia.
The Sowega Council on Aging houses the Aging & Disability Resource Connection( ADRC), a trusted resource for people of all ages, incomes, and disabilities to find information on the full range of long-term support options, advocacy, resource connection, and more.

Crossroads Mission is a faith-based transitional housing facility for men willing to commit to six months in its program. Extended time after six months is available if needed and the resident is progressing in the program. It can currently house 22 men. Its funding comes from United Way, churches, individuals and residents. Currently, there are 15 board members.

Crossroads for Her( CR4H) is a non-profit Christ-centered transition home for women. Residents must be willing to commit to our program for a minimum of 3 months up to 1 year. They have 7 board members and 5 advisors. Funding comes from local churches and private individuals from our generous community, along with several foundations.

DFCS is a state agency set up to assist needy persons with financial and social services. It provides Temporary Assistance for Needy Families to families with dependent children, food stamps, Medicaid, adoption assistance, foster care, volunteer services, child welfare services, Right from the Start Medicaid and adult care services.
DFCS provides employment services to assist welfare recipients in getting and keeping employment.
The DFCS State Advisory Board meets quarterly virtually. You can get the dates and time for the next meeting at dfcs. georgia. gov.
Meetings are open to the public.

Easterseals Southern Georgia is a non-profit organization that serves children and adults with disabilities. Easterseals provide exceptional services, education, outreach, and advocacy so that people living with autism and other disabilities can live, learn, work, and play in our communities. We provide family support, residential and vocational support, and operate the program Champions for Children.
Easterseals has locations in Albany, Valdosta, Waycross, Thomasville, and Tallahassee.
