Services include child health screening, chronic disease screening, family planning, immunizations, maternal care, WIC program, vital records services, sickle cell / vision / hearing screenings, and children’ s medical services, including services for at-risk infants.
Women’ s Health Services include pregnancy planning and prevention.
Children’ s Medical Services clinic offers medical care and surgery from physicians and other qualified professionals to income-eligible children with special health problems.
The health department is funded through county, state, and other local funds. Fees are based upon the patient’ s ability to pay. The agency is also responsible for septic tank and well inspections, rabies control, inspections of restaurants, and more.

The health board meets once each quarter and supervises the Colquitt County Health Department. Meetings are held at 8 a. m. at the Colquitt County Health Department. The 2025 meeting dates are March 25, June 24, September 23 and December 16.
Southwest Health District offers a wide range of vital services aimed at promoting public health and well-being in the region. They focus on adolescent health and youth development, emergency preparedness, epidemiology, and disease surveillance. Additionally, they provide services such as farmworker programs, health promotion, immunizations, child health, opioid and substance misuse response, reproductive health, WIC / nutrition services, and infectious disease management. These services include screenings, education, prevention, and treatment for various health issues affecting individuals and communities in Southwest Georgia. The Environmental Health Division manages concerns related to food service establishments, land development and use, and disaster response.
