There can be no doubting 2025 has been a tough year for Jorge Martin. Last year’ s MotoGP™ World Champion knew he faced a tough adaptation to Aprilia machinery after four successful seasons with Ducati.
But the Spaniard couldn’ t envision the mental strength that would be required to recover from four separate injuries. The third of those came in a crash in Qatar when he was seriously injured and left doubting his future.
“ You are never prepared for being close to dying,” Martin admitted when he came back from injury in July.“ In life you always have different situations, but sometimes there are situations that you don ' t expect, and then they arrive, and it ' s really tough to accept. And Qatar was one of them. I was in a really bad situation. And for me to be here today, it demonstrates to me the courage that I have and it gives me more motivation.”
Martin could take a great deal from that.“ The selfconfidence, for sure I struggled a bit when I was in the hospital in Qatar. But I think I trained perfectly, I am more prepared than ever, and I didn ' t know how much courage I have. Now I know that it ' s inside of me and I will have it for all my career.”
No cabe duda de que 2025 ha sido un año difícil para Jorge Martín. El Campeón del Mundo de MotoGP™ del año pasado sabía que le esperaba una dura adaptación a la moto de Aprilia tras cuatro exitosas temporadas con Ducati.
Pero el español no podía imaginar la fortaleza mental que necesitaría para recuperarse de cuatro lesiones distintas. La tercera de ellas llegó tras un accidente en Qatar, en el que resultó gravemente herido y le hizo dudar de su futuro.
" Nunca estás preparado para estar cerca de la muerte ", admitió Martín cuando regresó de su lesión en julio. " En la vida siempre te encuentras con situaciones diferentes, pero a veces hay situaciones que no esperas y, cuando llegan, son muy difíciles de aceptar. Y Qatar fue una de ellas. Estaba en una situación realmente mala. Y el hecho de estar aquí hoy me demuestra el coraje que tengo y me da más motivación ".
Martín pudo sacar mucho provecho de eso. " La confianza en mí mismo, sin duda, me costó un poco cuando estuve en el hospital de Qatar. Pero creo que me he entrenado a la perfección, estoy más preparado que nunca y no sabía cuánto coraje tenía. Ahora sé que está dentro de mí y que lo tendré durante toda mi carrera ".
