ROAD

TO MotoGP™
The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup began in 2014 and has since established itself as one of the most successful routes on the Road to MotoGP™. Open to riders aged 14 to 17, the series races alongside MotoGP™ for most rounds, offering a major platform for the stars of tomorrow.
Each round features two races, with a points system mirroring MotoGP™, and riders compete on identical Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup-liveried Honda NSF250R machines. Pirelli has been the official and sole tyre supplier since 2024.
Places are available on the next steps of the Road to MotoGP™, with riders from the Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup often progressing to the FIM MotoJunior™ World Championship and the Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup.
Recent successes include 2023 champion Veda Pratama, who moved to the Rookies, made his MotoJunior™ debut in 2025 and will race in Moto3™ in 2026. Now 2024 champion Zen Mitani is following a similar path as they follow in the footsteps of former Cup alumni Ai Ogura and Somkiat Chantra, both of whom debuted in MotoGP™ in 2025.
For more than two decades, MotoGP™ has developed the Road to MotoGP™, a global initiative designed to increase access to motorcycle racing and identify future talent worldwide.
The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup gives leading young riders from Asia and Oceania the chance to race and develop in a fully supported environment. The organisation provides identical machinery, insurance, travel and full logistical support across the championship. Former premier class racer and talent scout Alberto Puig also plays a key role in supporting rider development.
The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup is run by MotoGP™ rights holder Dorna Sports as part of the Road to MotoGP™ programme.
