Luca Marini developed through domestic competition before progressing into European and World Championship racing, showing steady improvement across each step. Early success in Moto3™ competition was followed by a move into Moto2™, where consistent top five finishes marked him as a long term contender. A switch to Sky Racing Team VR46 proved decisive. Multiple podiums and a maiden Grand Prix victory in Sepang underlined his progress, before a strong 2020 campaign saw Marini finish runner up in the Moto2™ World Championship despite injury disruption.
Promotion to MotoGP™ followed in 2021, where adaptation took time. Improved confidence and consistency arrived with VR46 machinery, highlighted by regular top six finishes and a first premier class podium in 2023. A move to the factory Honda team in 2024 presented a new challenge, with Marini playing a key role in development while delivering solid points finishes. Remaining with HRC for 2026, Marini targets a step forward as Honda push back towards the podium fight.
