There’ s no doubting Alex Marquez has a tough act to follow in 2026. Despite winning titles in Moto3™( 2014) and Moto2™( 2019), last year saw the 30-year old hit peak form as he claimed his first three MotoGP™ race wins and took second overall. That he was behind older brother Marc in a vintage championship 1-2 for the family made it all the sweeter.

Pese a haber alzado el título en Moto3™( 2014) y Moto2™( 2019), el piloto de 30 años alcanzó el año pasado su mejor forma al lograr sus tres primeras victorias en MotoGP™, acabando segundo en la clasificación general. El hecho de finalizar justo por detrás de su hermano mayor, Marc, en un histórico doblete familiar en el Campeonato hizo que todo fuera aún más dulce.

Alex is under no illusion that backing that runner up performance up with similar results this term will be no easy feat.“ To arrive is easier than to keep the level,” he said.“ It will be a nice test all year for us to see if we can keep that level, keep that confidence. Also, it will be interesting to see how the other manufacturers improve.”
The adaptation to Ducati’ s GP24 at the start of last year was seamless as he started the year with ten straight MotoGP™ Sprint podiums, and four MotoGP™ top twos from five. Yet he foresees this season being a good deal harder.

“ Last year we started the season with a really good bike, much better than the other ones,” he recalled.“ But then they were coming really close and at the end of the year we saw it much closer. We don ' t need to change the mentality. If we( did), thinking that now it will be easier it would be the wrong thing. We need to be really focused and do our job.”
