Marini’ s comeback at the Sachsenring was nothing short of sensational. Despite feeling some discomfort, he came home in sixth, his best result at that point aboard Honda’ s RC213V.
After a promising start to the campaign, all of Honda’ s riders struggled to gain further ground to its European rivals before the summer break. But the promise of some new parts in the season’ s second half was reason for optimism.
“ It ' s a tough period,” admitted Marini.“ But I think when some updates arrive, we can do a very good step forward. At the moment Aprilia, KTM made a step but I think we will arrive to their level soon, but we need to wait.”
Marini, a two-time podium finisher in the MotoGP™ class, had a unique record for a full-time rider: he made it through the first twelve rounds of 2025 without crashing his RC213V. So how does he do it?
“ Try to be sensible,” he said.“ I understand the bike. And put the temperature in the tyres always. I think I ' m quite good, until now to understand this and then during the races listen to the bike and the feedback of the tyre. ng every time at the limit, but try to don ' t go over the limit, just going over the limit for the qualifying lap because for one lap, with no fuel, with new tyres you can do something really, really good.”
Il rientro di Marini dopo l’ infortunio, al Sachsenring, è stato a dir poco sensazionale. Ancora un po’ dolorante, ha chiuso sesto: il suo miglior risultato fino a quel momento in sella alla Honda RC213V.
Dopo un inizio di stagione incoraggiante, prima della pausa estiva i piloti Honda hanno però faticato nel recuperare ulteriore terreno sui marchi europei. C’ era comunque ottimismo: è stato garantito l’ arrivo di alcune parti nuove, nella seconda metà della stagione.
“ È un periodo difficile”, ha ammesso Marini.“ Ma penso che quando arriveranno alcuni aggiornamenti potremo fare un grande passo avanti. Aprilia e KTM hanno fatto uno step. Credo che presto arriveremo al loro livello. Per ora dobbiamo aspettare”.
Già due volte sul podio della MotoGP™, Marini ha raggiunto un record particolare per un pilota a tempo pieno della classe regina: ha superato i primi dodici round del 2025 senza mai cadere con la sua RC213V. Come c’ è riuscito?
“ Cercando di essere sensibile”, ha detto. " Capisco la moto. E scaldo bene gli pneumatici. Penso di essere stato abbastanza bravo, finora, nel capire questo aspetto. Durante le gare ascolto la moto e il feedback delle gomme”.
“ Spingo sempre al limite, ma cerco di non superarlo. Quello lo faccio solo in qualifica, perché nel giro secco, senza troppo carburante e con gli pneumatici nuovi, si può fare qualcosa di davvero ottimo”.
