There’ s another session of free practice, so essentially track time, before qualifying starts. The Q1 session gives the riders in it a second shot at moving through to Q2 and the pole position shootout. The top two in Q1 move through. The rest have their grid positions decided, from P13 down.
Then it’ s time for Q2 and the fight for pole. It usually goes to the wire, and riders will usually do two runs. They’ ll head out on a lap to warm up their tyres, go for a hot lap, and then a cool down lap on the way back in. The top three at the end are the front row starters, and they’ ll head for parc ferme to celebrate.
Then, Moto3™ and Moto2™ qualify, before it’ s Sprint time. The MotoGP™ Sprint is the first race action in the premier class, and half distance in comparison to the main Grand Prix on Sunday. The grid is the same for the Sprint and the GP race, and the action is just as spectacular. Seeing the lights go out twice on one weekend adds two huge spikes of awesome adrenaline to the event.

C’ è un’ altra sessione di prove libere, quindi ulteriore tempo in pista, prima dell’ inizio delle qualifiche. La sessione Q1 offre ai piloti coinvolti una seconda possibilità per accedere alla Q2 e alla lotta per la pole position. I primi due classificati della Q1 passano alla Q2, mentre gli altri definiscono le loro posizioni in griglia dalla P13 in poi.
Poi arriva il momento della Q2 e della battaglia per la pole. Spesso tutto si decide negli ultimi istanti e i piloti effettuano solitamente due uscite. Entrano in pista per un giro di riscaldamento gomme, spingono per il giro veloce e completano poi un giro di raffreddamento prima di rientrare ai box. I primi tre classificati conquistano la prima fila e si dirigono al parc fermé per festeggiare.
Successivamente si disputano le qualifiche Moto3™ e Moto2™, prima della Sprint MotoGP™. La Sprint rappresenta la prima gara della classe regina ed è lunga metà distanza rispetto al Gran Premio della domenica. La griglia è identica per Sprint e GP, mentre lo spettacolo resta intenso e adrenalinico per tutto il weekend.
