“ But every session, every lap, I ' m feeling better and more in line with the bike. That ' s a really nice feeling. One of the biggest differences I have from the beginning of the season is that now I just ride, I don ' t have to think too much like before the season while I was adapting to the bike. Everything is becoming easier and actually I can go at the maximum of the bike in nearly FP1 so it makes easier for us to do a good setting and also to prepare a good weekend, especially for a flying lap that now is becoming very important.”
Quizzed on his chances of winning, especially at a track like the TT Circuit Assen, where he was a MotoGP™ victor in 2019, he was modest.“ I still have a way to go with the bike. Somehow I feel like I ' m still close to the limit of the package that I have, but still there is something more.“ So, I need to be very focused to understand, and to keep giving good comments to build up. Because now we are in the moment where we need to make the next step. And it ' s the most complicated one. So we need to be very sure of what we try, and very sure that we don ' t lose the way that we are going now.”
“ Dobbiamo fare un passo avanti. Abbiamo bisogno di un miglioramento. Ho iniziato il primo turno di libere girando in un certo tempo e al termine del fine settimana ero sempre lì, uguale, nonostante tanti cambiamenti sulla moto. Il feeling è sempre lo stesso. Forse leggermente migliore, ma niente di eccezionale”.
Ducati è costantemente impegnata sullo sviluppo e la sua brillante GP24, che l’ anno scorso ha polverizzato un record dopo l’ altro, era difficile da eguagliare. Bagnaia, così come Marquez e Fabio Di Giannantonio, stanno ancora cercando le sensazioni ideali con la nuova GP25.
“ Gigi e gli altri ingegneri stanno cercando di capire cosa sta succedendo”, ha aggiunto Bagnaia a proposito delle recenti difficoltà.‘ La moto sembra molto simile a quella precedente, ma non funziona nello stesso modo, e forse non sanno perché. Siamo in una situazione di stallo. Cerchiamo di capire quali sono i nostri problemi. Ma sono difficili da individuare”.
Bagnaia vede Yamaha, Honda e Aprilia fare passi da gigante in questa stagione. Sa che Ducati deve stare all ' erta per continuare a dominare:“ È qualcosa su cui riflettere. Gli altri stanno migliorando e noi siamo fermi. O addirittura peggioriamo”.
