When the lights went out for Acosta’ s MotoGP career to begin, safe to say there was some expectation. It’ s also safe to say the rookie fulfilled it. First podiums, first poles, and a first duel with Marc Marquez in his very first race … Acosta most definitely arrived in 2024. Just as he did in Moto2 before that and Moto3 before that. Now he’ s moving to the factory squad alongside Brad Binder, there’ s little doubt he’ ll be incredible to watch once again. Can he bring some glory back to the orange squad? It’ s been a tougher run and a dry spell without Grand Prix wins, and Acosta will definitely back himself to try and end that ASAP. A whole lot of fans will back him too, with the rookie sensation already having established himself as a big crowd favourite ahead of his sophomore season. And not without reason.
Toen de lichten uitgingen voor de start van de MotoGPcarrière van Acosta, kunnen we rustig zeggen dat de verwachtingen hoog waren. Dat de rookie de verwachtingen waarmaakte, is ook duidelijk. Eerste podiums, eerste poles en een eerste duel met Marc Marquez in de allereerste race van de rookie … Acosta maakte een geweldig entree in 2024, zoals hij eerder ook deed in Moto2 en in Moto3 daar weer voor. Nu hij samen met Brad Binder naar het fabrieksteam gaat, zal hij ongetwijfeld weer voor spektakel zorgen. Kan hij het oranje team weer laten stralen? Het is een moeilijke periode geweest zonder Grand Prix-overwinningen, en Acosta heeft ongetwijfeld op zichzelf gewed om daar zo snel mogelijk verandering in te brengen. Hij heeft een heleboel fans die hem steunen, want de sensationele rookie was voor aanvang van zijn tweede seizoen al de lieveling van een groot publiek. En niet zonder reden.
