WE’ RE SHIFTING TO
ZERO
# BritishGP
We are implementing forward-thinking initiatives to position Silverstone Circuit as a leader in sustainable sport, entertainment venues, and experiences. Below is a summary of some of the key actions already making an impact:
Renewably powered events If you look over to the Wing building, by Hamilton Straight, you will be able to see 2,764 solar panels. These panels provide 10 % of Silverstone’ s total electricity demand, supporting our commitment to renewable energy and increasing the proportion of green energy in the national grid.
Low-Carbon Fuels
Cleaner fuel for a cleaner community We are working to improve the air quality within the communities that surround Silverstone. To support this, we have made the switch to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil( HVO), a renewable fuel that reduces carbon emissions by up to 90 % compared to diesel, in all temporary generators used during events.
We have also transitioned the majority of our dieselpowered operations vehicles, heavy machinery, and safety cars to HVO biofuel, working towards achieving running 100 % of our diesel fleet on HVO.
Electric Bus Service To ensure green journeys at Silverstone this weekend, we are using 100 % electric shuttle buses for both our service from Milton Keynes train station to Silverstone, and our internal buses between Copse and Stowe runways. This complements the recent transition of two of our ambulances to electric, which reduces carbon emissions by 1 tonne annually, based on relatively low mileage.
We would love to hear about how you travelled to Silverstone today!
