“ AT FASTER TRACKS I THINK WE CAN FIGHT FOR THE PODIUM.”
SCOTT OGDEN
Official Programme
Local fans will have two home names to cheer in Moto3. Scott Ogden returns to the scene of his best-ever qualifying result— second— in 2023. And Eddie O’ Shea is making his maiden appearance at his home round this weekend.
For the first time in his World Championship career, Ogden is racing with KTM machinery and feels the adaptation has been“ a lot easier than expected.” Early results haven’ t quite lived up to the promise of pre-season, but he’ s confident he can better the three 12th places he scored in the first five races.
“ I’ m super happy( with the bike),” he said.“( When results weren’ t going my way in the past) I’ d have got flustered and angry, but( my speed) has helped
me stay calm,” he said.“ It depends on the track. At faster tracks I think we can fight for the podium. I’ ve got to get a few good results to get my confidence up and then I’ m sure I can be up there fighting toward the front.”
O’ Shea has endured a tricky start to the season but has shown flashes of speed throughout, indicating the potential is certainly there.
“ I spent all winter in Mallorca and trained more than ever,” he said.“ The end of last year was very positive. The aim is to get into Q2 and fight for the pointscoring positions. Every rookie has the goal of finishing as the Rookie of the Year— or at least to be fighting for it.”
