There were similarities to 2020 in Joan Mir ’ s excellent ride to second place in the Styrian Grand Prix , as the reigning world champion took his best result of the season . Mir now sits 51 points behind Quartararo and knows a fantastic run of tracks for both him and Suzuki are coming up . He and his team feel his title fight is far from over .
While not in the title fight , Jorge Martin will surely be a contender once again this weekend after the Spaniard produced a genuinely impressive weekend at the Styrian Grand Prix . In Just his sixth MotoGP™ race , the former Moto3™ World Champion scored pole position and a debut race win , becoming only the fifth rider in recent history to win a MotoGP™ race in their rookie premier class season ( Dani Pedrosa , Jorge Lorenzo , Marc Marquez and Brad Binder were the others ).
