QUARTARARO KEEPS HIS COOL
Considering Austria was the scene of two disastrous outings for Fabio Quartararo in 2020 , the Frenchman arrives at the second stage of the 2021 double header buoyed by his seventh podium of the season in the Styrian Grand Prix and the increasing of his championship lead .
Quartararo showed all the requisite aggression last weekend in the early laps to claim a brilliant third place , three places ahead of chief rival Johann Zarco . Quartararo now has 40 points in hand over his fellow Frenchman and has navigated one of Yamaha ’ s most difficult tracks on the calendar .
For Zarco , he must use this weekend ’ s second leg at the fabulous Red Bull Ring as a chance to regain some points on his 22-year old adversary . The outright speed of the Ducati has a massive advantage on the straights , and Zarco , Francesco Baganaia , who sits fourth overall , and Jack Miller ( fifth ) need to find ways to puncture Quartararo ’ s momentum here .
