Non-Forest Areas: 120 Crore Plants

(40 lakh Seedlings per Assembly Constituency)
A detailed exercise for identification of nurseries and the sites available for raising plantations was undertaken.
Nurseries are raised by various agencies involved, Forest Department, DWMA, Agriculture, Horticulture, Tribal
Welfare etc.
3300 number of nurseries for raising 41.00 Crore (approx.) seedlings for 2015 . The government has kept 40
crore saplings ready for plantation in 2,925 nurseries for the third phase in 2017. Of the total saplings planted
along highways and roads during the last two years, the survival rate was found to be 91 per cent.
Further, the action is being taken by the implementing agencies for procurement of polyethene bags and seeds for
grounding the nurseries.
Telangana Haritha Mitra awards:
On 15th August 2016 KCR announced Haritha Mitra Awards for recognition of their contribution in increasing
the green cover. One award in each sub-category will be given at State level and district level each. A cash award
of Rs. 1 lakh will be given for individuals, and Rs. 2 lakh for other categories
In the year 2016 Peddapalli legislator Dasari Manohar Reddy has bagged the state-level Telangana Haritha
Mitra award for his crusade for the plantation of fruit-bearing saplings and protection of the environment from
pollution in his Assembly segment in Karimnagar district. Similarly, Kalwa Srirampur Mandal Parishad president
G Saraiah Goud also bagged district level Harith Mitra award.
