Dream City Kinks by Jazzy DiMeglio I loved what I saw— you, like a lamb, laughing on the lap of a stranger and mediocre music flying from your fingertips. I listened for your interlude, for kinks in the rythmn as you cradled your instrument—sparks flung like anxious raindrops. I wished your hair were longer, that it were pink and shimmering over your shoulder blades— dancing to the beat of someone else’s knuckles on your knees. I loved what I saw— you on the edge of a sweating, dim-lit room. Your heart singing like a veery, your chest falling like lost intellect in my bedsheets before slipping to sleep.
