Aug. 9 • Upsala • Heritage Day Festival With a theme of“ Let Freedom Ring, Thank a Veteran,” Upsala will celebrate Heritage Days. The city’ s medallion hunt begins Aug. 5, with clues posted on the city’ s website at www. cityofupsala. com, at area businesses and on local radio stations. Aug. 10 begins with a 5K, with registration at the Upsala High School at 8 a. m. Activities, vendors and music will be offered at the City Park. New this year, the parade to begin at 4 p. m., with activities to continue at the city park.
Aug. 16 • Foley • Movie in the Park From 5:30 p. m.- 10 p. m. in Lions Park in Foley, all are welcome to join the Quality of Life Task Force to celebrate community and friends. This annual event includes musical entertainment, food, friends and families. The event is free, food is available for a small price. A movie will be shown at dusk.
Aug. 16 • Royalton • Royalton Lions Bass Tourney The Royalton Lions will host their 15th annual bass tourney, with a 7 a. m. start on the Mississippi River between Little Falls and Royalton. There is an entry fee per boat. To register, contact Steve Chisholm at( 320) 293-9289 or steve. chisholm @ scr-mn. com. Proceeds from the tourney go back into the Blanchard Dam landing.
Aug. 23 • Pierz •‘ Walk and Wings’ To complement the Pierz Oktoberfest celebration, the Pierz Area Commercial Club will host a“ Walk and Wings” event. The idea is for people to register to cook wings, set up along Main Street. Guests can buy a ticket to taste the wings, while enjoying music throughout town. The evening will end with a street dance, featuring a local band from 7 p. m. – 10 p. m. Folks are encouraged to dress up in their finest German-themed attire, with the crowd voting on a winner. Toward the end of the evening, the first, second and third place winners for the wings will be announced. Plans are underway for the event, with several other ideas still taking shape.
Aug. 24 • Pierz • Oktoberfest The annual Pierz Oktoberfest gets into full swing Sunday, Aug. 25, with an 11 a. m. parade, followed by music, food and activities at the Pierz Park. Participants are encouraged to get involved in the festivities by wearing a German costume. The festivities begin Aug. 18 with a week-long medallion hunt.
August 29-Sept. 1 • Hillman • Mud Fest Mud Fest offers camping, food, music, old-fashioned truck mudding fun, as well as UTV events, racing and dress-up theme nights. Mud Fest is held at 40063 113th St., Hillman. For information visit www. mudfesthillman. com.

September 2- Wine & Chocolate Walk Guests will receive a passport and tasting glass upon entry. Take a leisurely stroll around the 9-acre Linden Hill estate tasting wines from around the world paired with Minnesota-made Terroir Chocolates. Present your passport at each of the six stations to receive your taste of wine and gourmet chocolate. Guests are welcome to stay and enjoy a beverage and small bites from the cash bar. Bottles of wine and bars of chocolate will be for sale to take home from the event.
Sept. 4 • Pierz • Rock, Roll and Stroll The Pierz Commercial Club’ s Rock, Roll and Stroll is a show on Main Street in Pierz that features custom and classic cars, motorcycles or anything cool, from 5 p. m.- 8 p. m. Local shops and restaurants are open, music is played and food and drinks are available to the public. Free registration.
