The Swanville Midsummer Carnival has been a tradition in Morrison County for more than a half century and has been dubbed“ The Grand Daddy of Central Minnesota Festivals.” The Swanville Lions, are excited to present this year’ s 62nd annual event in Swanville, Friday- Sunday, June 27-29.
The festivities begin Friday at 5 p. m. when the Swanville Lions begin dishing up their famous barbecue chicken, which will be served all weekend. The midway, complete with carnival rides and a variety of food and beverages, opens at 6 p. m., the air conditioned bingo hall opens at 7 p. m. and at 8:30 p. m. live music will be provided by Booz-N-Tuna. Saturday, the midway, chicken shack, bingo hall and beer garden open at 3 p. m. Everyone is invited to dance to live music by Mason Dixon Line beginning at 8:30 p. m.
The last day of the carnival, Sunday, features a parade, beginning at 11:30 a. m., with the opening of the midway, chicken shack and beer garden at noon. The bingo hall opens at 1 p. m. and at 2 p. m., and Alan Godage and Sundown Band perform live.
Advanced midway tickets will be available at area businesses closer to the event.
Free primitive camping is also available.
