GUIDING GUIDING CAREERS OF SCHOLARLY INQUIRY WITH A RESEARCH SUPPORT TEAM AND STATE-OF-THE-ART RESOURCES The College’s achievement of #12 in the nation for NIH grant funding reveals a long and distinguished history of addressing the issues that prevent patients from receiving evidence-based care, including quality, safety, and access. Research explores interventions that affect symptom management, function, speed of recovery, quality of life, disease prevention, and health disparities. Our faculty are known nationally for research in the management of chronic illnesses and in healthy lifestyles to improve the health 28 and well being of individuals and their families. The current strengths in scientific and interdisciplinary research encompass cancer, physical activity, obesity and associated conditions, and gerontology. Additional programs of research are being sought to expand our portfolio of scholarly activity and to infuse new research collaborations that aim to improve community health.
