Preparing Students to Pursue Graduate Education
The MSN offers three concentrations:
• Nurse Practitioner with specialties in Adult/Gerontological or Family
• Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist with Education
• Nurse Anesthesia
Each concentration curriculum has been developed and
implemented to build on the MSN core with specialty-specific courses
in advanced physical assessment, advanced pathophysiology, and
advanced pharmacology.
All concentrations are led by faculty members who bring years
of practice and teaching experience, talent, and passion to prepare
students for successful professional lives.
APRNs
APRNs provide
more cost
effective care
and have patient
satisfaction scores
that are consistently
higher than
those of other
healthcare providers.
NPs
Forty years of
research has
shown that
primary care
provided by NPs
is equivalent to
care provided
by physicians.
CNSs
CRNAs
CNSs provide
specialty care
for people of
all ages and in
all heathcare
locations. The
outcomes for CNS
practice include:
improved patient
functioning,
decreased hospital
length-of-stay, and
reduced hospital
readmission rates.
CRNAs have
been found to
provide anesthesia
care equivalent
to that of
anesthesiologists
in a direct
comparison of
patient outcomes
and complications.
