I believe there are two identifiable schools of thought when it comes to Affirmations: Absolutes use action-packed “I” statements, which are definitive and declarative. Be passionate about your thoughts: • I am a good person! • I am LOVE! • I am having the BEST day ever! I am BEAUTIFUL! • I am a Superstar! • I am grateful! If you’re having trouble and • I want to be a good person. • I want to be LOVE. • I am working on having the best day ever. • I want to accept that I am beautiful. • I want to be a Superstar. • I desire to be grateful. When you’re working to change how your thought process works, Training Wheel statements acknowledge that you are in the process of “doing” and making your intention happen. And remember, you need to keep your affirmations front and center and look at them repeatedly. You’re not going to work through a lifetime of bad habits, inappropriate choices and negative self-esteem programming overnight. It’s going to take time for your external life to mirror your subconscious longings. Getting started is the hard part, but persistence is key. If you’re serious about transforming and shifting your self-talk, keep at it. There may be early successes as you push forward, but be prepared to keep at it for the long haul.
