This Fall we are offering two specialty programs outside of our usual
expeditions. Fiber & Fashion is an in-depth, three-day textile dream
and Family Constitution Day is a one-day opportunity to enjoy
digging deeper into Montpelier’s history with the whole family.
Fiber and Fashion— October 1st to 3rd
Program Fee: $850/person
Ages: 12-85+
In this program, participants will learn about the history of textile
production at the Montpelier plantation through special lectures led by
renowned scholars in archaeology and textiles. The experience will
include private tours of Montpelier’s landscape, exhibits, and newly
constructed spinning house. Our professional archaeology staff will also
teach you how to identify and date buttons, beads, and clothing related
artifacts. Cap off your experience at the Fall Fiber Festival & Montpelier
Sheep Dog Trials on October 4th. Price includes Festival admission and
workshop.

Family Constitution Day Dig— September 19th
Program Fee: $100/person
Ages: 8-85+
Join us for a day of archaeological fun with your whole family! This
program will also coincide with our annual Constitution Day celebration!
Indulge your passion for archaeology, and inspire a love for history in the
younger generation. After a day of digging for artifacts, you will have the
opportunity participate in multiple hands-on activities celebrating one of
James Madison’s greatest achievements. This is an excellent opportunity to
bring multiple generations together!
