In this program, participants will use 19th century techniques to
construct tables and chairs for the cabins in the domestic slave living area

through exclusive lectures and tours not offered to typical Montpelier
visitors. The program will conclude with a hearth cooking demonstration
led by living history interpreter, Jerome Bias.
Partner Spotlight:
Jerome Bias
Through his idea of “CL (Celebrating Life)
Woodworking,” Jerome uses wood working as
a way to celebrate and learn more about his
southern heritage. In addition to hearth-side
cooking, Jerome also engages in living history
demonstrations, and often portrays the 18th
and 19th century African American craftsmen,
Thomas Day.
