Monticello High School to send off 338 graduates
MONTICELLO — On Friday , June 7 , Monticello High School ’ s 137th graduating class of 338 students will earn diplomas to join more than 13,886 alumni who have participated in MHS ’ s traditional commencement ceremony .
Graduation day kicks off with rehearsal at 10 a . m . Later that evening , students and advisors will gather at 6:15 p . m . for the commencement ceremony , which begins at 7 p . m . at the High School Stadium .
During graduation , all 19 valedictorians will have the honor of addressing their classmates , staff and parents . These students have maintained a 4.0 grade-point average throughout all four years of high school .
The 2024 MHS valedictorians are : Allison Beilke , Gabriella Cruz-Longley , Keegan Ellis , Paul Fasen , Rylan Feierabend , Sydney Fuller , Jack Geislinger , Erin Gilbertson , Adrienne Hansen , Makenna Lutes , Lauren Moorhouse , Natalie Nemeth , Evan Raske , Dinah Schaffer , Gina Schaffer , Gunnar Simon , Nicholas Thovson , Bella Vasoli and Reagan Wahnschaffe .
Junior Honor Guard members will be lending a hand with this year ’ s graduation ceremony , helping to facilitate the proceedings . These are 11th-grade students who currently have a 4.0 GPA and who are on track to be next year ’ s valedictorians in the Class of 2025 .
They are : Shayne Beucler , McKenna Biegler , Allison Chaffins , Danica Cristobal , Summer Derby , Jaymon Dietel , Tyler Grue , Josie Johnson , Addison Kiphuth , Madeline Kocherer , Kathrine Lemke , Brayden Rhea , Isabelle Robinson , Koen Schlangen , Hadley Schultz , Kaela Skistad and Aloysius Thompson .
Following the commencement ceremony , the senior class will then head to the Monticello
Middle School to celebrate with the chemical-free , All-Night Graduation Party , which is sponsored by parents and a number of community businesses .
Started in the 1980s , this tradition provides a safe , drug- and alcohol-free way for graduates to celebrate their accomplishments and to spend one last time together as a class before they move on to the next chapter of their lives .
Graduating seniors were also honored at two other recent events this past month .
On the evening of May 15 , MHS hosted the Senior Awards Program . A series of student scholarships were announced and Monticello Chamber of Commerce & Industry awards were presented which covered various academic achievements .
In addition , the annual Baccalaureate Program was held in the MHS Performing Arts Center on the night of May 29 .
