Top, the son’s bedroom, as with nearly every room on the front side of the
house, offers a view of Manhattan. A Lego collection sits comfortably above
the windows. Above, the husband’s office features custom built-in bookcases;
pull-out shelves below the glass cases provide more space for reading material.
The fireplace is surrounded by travertine marble; the walls are done in trompe
l’oeil. Inset: The butler’s pantry holds the china used in the dining room, and
is home to the dishwasher and refrigerator. Even this utilitarian space is lined
in wood paneling. Right, the dining room sports a hand-carved plaster ceiling,
stone fireplace, Chippendale chest and Sheffield sterling chandelier.
