FAMILIAR FROM HAMPTON COURT?
Montclair is home to many Craftsman Colonials, but the wood-
work crossing the ceiling in this estate is more similar to the Tudor
beams of Hampton Court Palace, according to Joseph. The floors are
made of oak-pegged wide planks, and the walls are paneled in chest-
nut. A rock crystal chandelier and leaded glass windows allow in light
at the landing; a secret door leads down to the wine cellar. Above,
the fireplace features carved Carrara marble. All of the furniture
and design elements in the home were custom-made for its current
occupants.
