7.1.2 Students developed their digital profiling on LinkedIn
As digital profiling is increasingly important for working professionals , this unit had a “ Digital Profiling ” pillar in which 10 % of the total SIP marks was allocated to students ’ digital profiling on LinkedIn . LinkedIn is a social media platform for professionals . It carries the mission of connecting the world ’ s professionals and making them more productive and successful .
Students were tasked to post 5 insightful LinkedIn posts throughout the semester , with content relevant to the unit or the SIP in general ( e . g . critical thinking , creativity , emotional intelligence , adaptability ). Students were encouraged to add their own point of views .
As a result , students openly shared their views on topics such as sustainable fashion , mental health in the workplace , to gender equality and youth empowerment . Find out more using the hashtag # monashsocialimpactproject on LinkedIn . Students were bold in sharing their views on key topics via LinkedIn . They further profiled their SIP experience on their LinkedIn profiles to build their credibility for future job opportunities !
7.1.3 Creating Internship Opportunities
Students were further inspired by the Workshops conducted by Industry Experts which resulted in internship opportunities . For example , one of the students , Jovita Sagita secured an internship with Easy Consulting , a consulting firm committed towards the ethos of sustainability and ingraining it into every part of a business . Jovita is entrusted with two assignments . The first one is as a Project Analyst in sustainability reporting for a client , and the second one is towards improving the business process within Easy Consulting itself by structuring a database . In addition to developing newfound knowledge in sustainability , such internships help students master professional soft skills such as communication , punctuality and time management . These are skills that are key for success in the workforce and are highly sought after by the industry .
7.1.4 Nurturing Student Leadership
Throughout the SIP , student leadership was nurtured . Each group was tasked with selecting their Project Lead . The Project Lead had roles over and above their team ’ s responsibilities . This included taking ownership of the project , demonstrating communication , problem-solving and strong team-work skills . Project Leads were also expected to be the main point of contact with Host Company and Mentor , provide direction and structure for the team , facilitate discussions and meetings , coordinate development of final report and presentation and lead research and analysis for final deliverables . At the end of the SIP , based on the 360 Feedback Survey and evaluations by Project Facilitators and the Unit Leader , students were rewarded with a Certificate of Recognition for showcasing exemplary leadership in leading their team .
