Building a Sustainable Future Together
A s global business moves toward more responsible practices, Malaysia’ s small and medium-sized enterprises( SMEs) are eager to make the shift. At Monash University Malaysia’ s School of Business, researchers and educators are helping SMEs drive sustainability through research excellence, strategic partnerships, and hands-on innovation programs.

At the heart of this effort is the Sustainable Business research cluster, which brings together Monash faculty across disciplines to study issues such as energy justice, green consumption, and sustainable finance. Engagement activities span symposiums, formal partnerships, workshops, and real-world projects that benefit students, businesses, and communities alike.

Mentoring Young Professionals to Innovate for Sustainability A standout initiative is the SDG Innovation Accelerator Program, developed in partnership with the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei( UNGCMYB). The nine-month program empowers young Malaysian professionals from SMEs to design and test sustainability solutions within their organisations.

In 2024, six Malaysian companies from diverse industries participated.“ The accelerator program fosters an environment of collaboration and innovation, and we look forward to seeing these young professionals make great strides integrating sustainability into their organisations,” she added.
