Small
Business
Matters
When you picture a small business, what comes to
mind? You might think of a solo entrepreneur or
a company with a handful of employees who are
treated like family. According to one definition by
the federal government, a small business is one that
has fewer than 500 employees. Using that yardstick,
the vast majority of our Chamber members are small
businesses.
Our 2018 Business and Buyers’ Guide will soon be
published. It will be chock full of small businesses –
advertising agencies, caterers, contractors, insurance
agents, landscapers, pharmacies, restaurants, salons,
veterinarians… any product or service you may need.
I encourage you to use The Guide and purchase your
goods and services from Chamber members.
And before I sign off, I must put in a plug for Small
Business Saturday on November 25. It has become
an annual shopping tradition dedicated to supporting
small businesses and celebrating communities across
the country. Look for our coming notices.
I encourage you to support our local businesses (big
and small) all year-round.
