Representatives of SLIBCO held a planning session
featuring Don Smith, Ph.D., the president of the
Regional Industrial Development Corporation of
Southwestern Pennsylvania, for a strategic planning
session, focusing on SLIBCO’s future endeavors.
SLIBCO recently hosted its fi rst Park Association
Meeting at the Scott Technology Park. During the
meeting, tenants discussed park growth, tenant
expansions, infrastructure and public transportation
concerns. This meeting was hosted in partnership
with NEPA Alliance as part of the Engage! Program.
The Chamber helped celebrate the grand opening of
Freshair Designs in Dickson City.
Amy Luyster Selected for
U.S. Chamber Foundation
Education and Workforce
Fellowship Program
MetroAction received a $2,500 contribution from
NBT Bank. The funds will be used to support its small
business lending programs.
Skills in Scranton, the workforce development
affi liate of The Greater Scranton Chamber of
Commerce, recently hosted the fi nal cohort of its
Educators in the Workplace program. This cohort,
focusing on business, fi nance and information
technology, welcomed 14 educators from eight
school districts.
The Chamber held its 2019 Sunny Day Member
Campaign in early May.
The Chamber hosted a Dark Web seminar, featuring
Fraser Advanced Information Systems.
Chamber president Bob Durkin participated in
a foreign policy forum hosted by the U.S. Global
Leadership Coalition at Marywood University. The
forum also featured Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Moosic),
Lackawanna College president Col. Mark Volk, and
Marywood University president Sr. Mary Persico, IHM.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation recently
announced that Amy S. Luyster, vice president
of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce,
was selected to participate in the third cohort of
its premiere business leadership program. The
Business Leads Fellowship Program trains and
equips leaders from state and local chambers
of commerce with resources, access to experts,
and a network of peers to build their capacity to
address the most pressing education and workforce
challenges.
