Celebrate with us! Join us as we celebrate 150 years of representing the business community. The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce is celebrating a special milestone and we’re preparing an unforgettable evening 150 years in the making. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. THE SCRANTON CULTURAL CENTER AT THE MASONIC TEMPLE Sponsored by: FRESH FACES Peter Tomasi WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO OPEN FIRSTLIGHT HOME CARE OF GREATER SCRANTON I’ve had over 20 years of experience at a large company providing services for people, but I wanted to open my own business and provide a service that made a positive impact on people and the community. People are living longer, but often without the natural support of family nearby to help provide care. We provide transportation to medical appointments and errands, light housekeeping and meal preparation. We assist people with personal needs, medication reminders and many other services that they need to be safe and independent. WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS LOCALLY? Our clients and caregivers are the fabric of the community. Our clients want to live in their homes if possible, so we work with the clients to identify their needs and match them with one of our local caregivers. By hiring local people, clients get the companionship of caregivers that have shared memories of the area, which is especially comforting to clients with dementia. I’m very proud of our caregivers, they love helping others and we work hard to match them with clients whose needs match their request. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THE CHAMBER? FirstLight Home Care of Greater Scranton Dunmore, PA wwww.scranton.fi rstlighthomecare.com Member since 2017 This business grows through relationships and networking. Everyone I’ve met at the Chamber has been welcoming and supportive. They know the community and are quick to share their knowledge of local resources. They promote local businesses and generate opportunities to network. FirstLight Home Care’s hope is that other members of the Chamber will reach out to us if they know someone who needs help after reading this. We’re all neighbors and I want to contribute to the Chamber’s success because a strong Chamber is going to contribute to mine. www.scrantonchamber.com • 5
