K indness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous,
and considerate. Compassion motivates people to go out of
their way to help the physical, mental or emotional pains of
another and themselves. When I think of League City Mayor Pat
Hallisey, those are the two words that immediately come to
mind. I have never met a more kind or compassionate man
than him.
When Hurricane Harvey hit our area, he was among the first to
visit nearby shelters and neighborhoods to offer a helping
hand. While many were consumed by the catastrophic damage
done to their own homes, Mayor Hallisey put his own needs
aside and made sure he was aiding the town and the people
that he loves dearly. Many of you don’t even know that Mayor
Hallisey and his wife Janice suffered damage to their home
during Harvey, but wanted to make sure the people in this area
were well taken care of first by helping to deliver supplies to the
neighborhoods, visiting shelters, and helping to organize a
supply distribution center that helped over 10,000 families.
About four weeks after the storm hit, Mayor Hallisey and Janice

were trying to put their own home back in order, when he
collapsed while working in their back yard. Luckily, their
daughter Ashley was with him called Janice, who immediately
went home to pick him up and take him to the emergency
room. Mayor Hallisey suffered multiple heart attacks and the
blood flow to the lower half of his body was cut off. He would
later have his left leg amputated.
On the evening of October 11, Mayor Hallisey was air lifted to
Memorial Hermann Heart and Vascular Institute in the Texas
Medical Center by Life Flight. Dr. Hazim Safi and the medical
team performed multiple surgeries and were able to save his
