Human Trafficking

Globalization

What is globalization? It is the international exchange of goods and services, and can also include ideas, morals, and culture. In this time and age, globalization can include drug trafficking and even human trafficking. Human trafficking occurs in every country, although almost often it's very discrete. The victims are usually Aboriginal, racialized, immigrants, and abuse survivors (Canadian Women, 2013) . If the girl is under 18 years old, she is considered more valuable. The Canadian Women conducted research and had consultations with 260 Canadian organizations and 160 sex trafficking survivors, and they claim that the victims usually start at the age of 13. The trading of humans are typically controlled by criminal networks that use direct force to get the victims to do what they want (rape, abuse, assault, etc). In order to lure girls in they use promise of affection by promising them better jobs and better lives, but little do they know they are stepping into hell. They also use indirect force by threatening their families, their houses, their workplaces and people they kbow. These people can make up to $300-500 per prostitute, and they are also used to trade and sell illegal drugs between different criminal groups. Human trafficking a serious issue that needs to be stopped so that these victims can live the proper life that they have been handed to.
