Tango Acropilis Elena Gossi & Mestre Luis The Tango Acropolis Festival is the annual cultural festival that hosts a variety of activities and gives tango enthusiasts an opportunity to experience Argentine culture and discover how thise Argentine dance brings people together. Dancing movement contains an entire philosophy. It is a living bridge of communication between people and cultures. Since 2011, Tango Acropolis has been organizing tan- go events at important locations in Athens, such as the Acropolis Museum courtyard, the archaeological site of the Roman Agora, the Zappeion Megaron, and the Athens Megaron. They also organized events at the Panathenaic Stadium of Kalimarmaro and recently in the Herod Atticus Conservatory. For three years, Tango Acropolis has been officially rep- resented the Mundial del Tango de Buenos Aires. They conduct a competition in Greece, with com- petitors from across Mediterranean Europe. The winners of the competition represent Greece di- rectly in the semifinals of the competition, held every August in Buenos Aires. On the evening of the last full moon of summer, the Acropolis will be flooded with favorite melodies by great Argentine masters. The official Acropolis Tango Festival opens withTango del Sur. The song speaks of a yearning for a better life, filled with passion, compan- ionship and love. Relationships that are transform into music and dance. This year, an exciting dance performance of the history of tango was presented performed by the Argentine dancer and choreographer Natalia Hills. This was her first trip to Europe, and was exclusively for a single performance at the Conservatory of Herodes Atticus. Thousands of visitors attended the Tango Acropo- lis, which includes music and dance performances, photo and painting exhibitions, lectures on the history of tango, motion pictures, live orchestras, fashion shows, milongas, workshops and seminars with leading teachers and dancers.
