“I  started  looking  for   other  things,  and   there  is  a  place  out   there  for  every  one   who  wants  to  model.   They  need  models  of   all  shapes  and  sizes.”    -­‐Ginger  Kewl   Model  Ginger  Kewl   Photo  ©  Brian  Thornton     Ginger   Kewl   started   modeling   to   gain   confidence,   and   quickly   discovered   that   modeling   was  her  true  passion.     “I   started   modeling   because   I   was   having   self   esteem   issues,   and   had   a   lot   of   the   usual   doubts,”   she   explained.   “I   kept   thinking,   I’m   too   old,   I’m   too   fat,   nobody’s   going   to   like   me,   but   I   decided  I  can  do  this,  and  decided   to  try  it,  and  it  just  took  off.”    Amer  studying  some  of  the   industry-­‐based   magazines,   Ginger   said  she  quickly  no.ced  a  trend.     “I   looked   at   Vogue,   Bazaar,   W,   and   all   of   the   models   in   the   adver.sements   were   all   young,   and   very   thin,”   she   said,   adding  that  this  ul.mately  did  not   discourage  her.     “Well,   I   don’t   fit   those   categories,   and   that’s   okay,   because  I  started  looking  for  other   things,   and   there   is   a   place   out   there   for   everyone   who   wants   to   model.   They   need   models   of   all   shapes  and  sizes.“     Entering   at   the   local   level,   Ginger   said   she   has   found   p h o t o g r a p h e r s   t o   b e   v e r y   welcoming.     “I   haven’t   run   into   any   resistance   in   the   local   community   at   all.   The   photographers   want   to   work   with   you,   because   they   feel   everyone   is   beau.ful,   it   just   depends   on   how   they   light   them,   and  the  poses  they  put  them  in.”     The   shoots   and   events   so   far   have   all   been   posi.ve   and   fun,   Ginger  said.   Modern Model Page 25   “I   have   learned   something   f r o m   e a c h   a n d   e v e r y   photographers   I   have   worked   with.”     Ginger,   who   also   likes   the   social   aspect   of   mee.ng   and   working   with   new   models   and   photographers,   hopes   see   the   fashion   and   modeling   industry   ul.mately  understand  that  there  is   life  outside  of  a  size  zero.     “Where   I’d   like   to   see   the   industry   go   is   more   real   life   models.   We’re   not   all   0s   and   2s.   The   average   size   woman   in   the   United  States  is  a  12  to  14.”       Visit    Ginger’s  online  modeling     poruolio  at:   hDp://www.modelmayhem.com/ 3038525
