If you want the enjoyment and camaraderie that comes with being a part of a club , then the Modern Athlete Club is for you . Our club operates largely in a virtual environment in the Central Gauteng ( CGA ) and Gauteng North ( AGN ) running provinces , but it has a real presence at events and through club functions .

HOW DID YOU GET INTO RUNNING ?
It started when a running friend dared myself and my Hubby William that we will not be able to run a 21km . We decided to stop being couch potatoes to prove to him ( and ourselves ) that we can do it . We started to exercise in November 2015 and did our first half at DisChem in January 2016 … and we ’ re still running .
THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS IN YOUR RUNNING CAREER SO FAR ?
1 . Meeting Modern Athlete ’ s 9to5 Coach Jeannie Jordaan . She has a lot of passion for running , truly an inspiring and amazing person , and her 9to5 Challenge is really worth it . I improved my times over 5km , 10km and 21km ! 2 . Every time I improve my times is memorable – it shows that I am reaching my goals .

ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WANTING TO JOIN A CLUB ( OR WANTING TO START RUNNING )?
You should not be scared . Joining a club is wonderful , as you meet people with the same goals as you . Some are running to improve their times , some to lose weight , but every person is there to improve their lifestyle . It is a choice of being healthy instead of a couch potato .
WHAT ARE YOUR RUNNING GOALS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS ?
William and I were training for our first marathon in September , and after that , my goal for the next few years is to improve and break more personal records . I would also love to develop young talent to run . I need to say thank you to the Lord that gives me the opportunity to be able to run , and thanks also to William for being with me on our running journey and beyond , including ice packs , a massage here and there , and pushing me to be a better runner .
