At the time of writing nearly 11,000 local entries had been received for the

“Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.” - Francis of Assisi
CMA General Manager, Chris Fisher has urged runners to support the six Comrades
Charities, saying, “Our six official charities are involved in important social and
environment upliftment projects, and we encourage our runners to get into charitable
giving and support the work of these charities.”

For example, runners who make a donation to the Comrades Amabeadibeadi
Charities when they enter, or by pledging to raise funds for Race4Charity in
order to secure a higher starting slot in the special CC starting pen, will be making a
huge difference to the Ezinketheni Community, just outside of Pietermaritzburg. This
community is being helped and supported by the various Amabeadibeadi charities.
Community Chest of Pietermaritzburg
The Community Chest staff recently visited the area, where they helped to distribute
blankets to the children donated by Knit-A-Square and food parcels to some of the
aging grannies in this destitute community. The objective is to provide hope, practical
support and encouragement to the many families facing severe hardships, whilst at
the same time teaching them skills to become self-reliant.
