FINAL MONTH FOR COMRADES ENTRIES
Entries have been coming in thick and fast for the 2016 Comrades Marathon, and the
three-month entry process will close on 30 November 2015, or as soon as the cap of
20,000 entries has been reached, so runners are urged to get their entries in early to avoid
possible disappointment. You can see the rising entry barometer at www.comrades.com.

SERIES RACE

The 91st Comrades Marathon will be a ‘down-run’ on Sunday 29 May 2016, with the race
starting at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 5:30am and ending 12 hours later at the
Sahara-Kingsmead Cricket Stadium in Durban, covering a distance of around 90km. This
will be the 45th ‘down-run’ in the race’s 95-year history.

It’s all systems go for the ninth edition of
the Greater Edendale 10km and 5km Race.
This annual road running event captures the
joy of running and unites the community of
Edendale in a day of camaraderie and fun.

This beautiful community race will incorporate
the AIMS Children’s Series Race and promises
to be a fun-filled day for young and old alike.
CMA Chairperson, Macdonald Chitja says,
“Our aim is to expose our little ones to the
joys of running and allow them to experience
the beauty of participating in a race at a
young age.” The AIMS Children’s Series Race
attracted more than 500 children last year.

QUALIFYING &
SUBSTITUTIONS
Qualifying for the 2016 Comrades Marathon is
applicable as of 30 August 2015 until 2 May 2016.
Runners are advised that the 2015 Comrades
Marathon will not be an automatic qualifier for
next year’s race. For those runners who decide
later that they can no longer run the race and want
to transfer their entry to another runner who may
have missed the initial entry deadline, or decided
late to enter, the three-week substitution window
period will be from 1 April to 21 April 2016.
