Grant Lottering does the
Impossible… TWICE
South African survivor, speaker and ultraendurance cyclist, Grant Lottering, recently
became the first South African to complete a
418 kilometre solo, non-stop, ultra-endurance
cycle through the French Alps in under 24 hours.
This was Lottering’s second Im’Possible Tour
over the Alps, aptly titled, ‘Taking a Second
Chance at Life to the Limit and Beyond’ which
he finished in only 19:31, climbing a total of
9 864 metres, finishing at Les Saisies Ski Resort
on Tuesday, 4 August.

SA girls riding in Europe
Cycling South Africa’s Women’s Commission
is proud to announce the following riders
have been chosen for the Women’s European
Racing Programme.
Cherise Stander, An-Li Kachelhoffer, Charlene
du Preez, Carla Oberholzer, Candice Neethling
and Heidi Dalton.
The programme will provide some of South
Africa’s top women cyclists a chance
to compete against international riders
in selected European races in order to
accumulate valuable UCI points so that South
Africa can qualify more women riders for the
road race at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Riaan Durand wins inaugural
Amorello Challenge
Riaan Durand (47) from Pongola was the first man
home in the Amorello Challenge on 8 August.
Durand, representing the Men’s 40-60 plus category,
with an average speed of 23.43 kilometres per
hour, rode exceptionally well, keeping his pace the
entire distance and crossed the finish line for the 50
kilometre mountain bike event in only 02:08:04.
