E MONTHS TO GO!

comrades

It’s March… The Comrades is on 31 May… so runners are deep into
their training, making sure their entries and qualifiers are up to date (or
getting ready to do a substitution), and attending all the workshops and
seminars in order to be fully prepared for the Ultimate Human Race.

R
unners, take note! In order to qualify
to run the Comrades Marathon, you
need to run a minimum qualifying
distance of 42.2km in under
5 hours, and all qualifying races
must be run between 1 August 2014 and 3 May
2015. That means the 2014 Comrades Marathon
will not be an automatic qualifier for the 2015
race. Qualifying details must be submitted to
the CMA by 4 May. Also, to ensure a hasslefree registration experience, runners are
urged to confirm their entry particulars, i.e.
ChampionChip code, T-shirt size, registration
venue (Durban or Pietermaritzburg), etc, via
the Comrades Marathon website.

you’ll stand the chance
of winning an amazing

FINAL ROADSHOW
DATES IN CAPE
If you’re in Cape Town in early March, make sure you
get to one of the last two workshops that form part of
the official Comrades Marathon Roadshow, because
the Comrades Marathon Coach and other professionals
will be sharing valuable information regarding the race
and training for it. Entry is free.
• Wednesday 4 March, 7pm, @ Constantia Bowls
Club, Main Road, Constantia, Cape Town, hosted
by K-Way VOB.
• Thursday 5 March, 7pm, @ Helderberg Rugby Club,
Charles Morkel Stadium, Church Street, Somerset
West, hosted by Strand Athletic Club.
The roadshow has become an important part of the
Comrades Marathon marketing strategy and goes hand
in hand with the CMA’s training programmes, devised by
the Comrades Coach, Lindsey Parry. As CMA Marketing
Coordinator, Thami Vilakazi says, “The annual Comrades
Marathon Roadshow has been specifically designed
for Comrades runners. At these sessions, runners are
informed of all things regarding ultra-running, including
training, nutrition and injury-prevention.”
