nutrients than less active women, but you
can easily get all the right nutrients from a
balanced diet to keep performance up and aid

W
hen it comes to endurance sport, women do not need
to take all sorts of supplements to get the optimal nutrient
intake to power their training and competing. According to
Doctor Rudi de Wet, a general practitioner in Knysna and
specialist in sport science, “Supplements are only necessary
if there are deficiencies in nutrients and the athlete’s diet is
inadequate, because research has shown that supplements
cannot replace a balanced diet and a good training programme
with adequate rest and sleep.”
