Join 6000 runners and walkers @ sunrise for the 45 th edition of the Medihelp Sunrise Monster . Hosted by Harlequin Harriers , this is one of the oldest and most prestigious races in Pretoria , and has a race distance for everyone !

If you ’ re planning to run Comrades this year , you cannot afford to miss out on our flagship race . This is because our 32km Monster is the ultimate Comrades conditioner ! The demanding route passes through the Groenkloof Nature Reserve and leafy suburbs of Pretoria , and runners can expect some taxing climbs , as well as some off-road running through the Klapperkop Nature Reserve .
If you prefer a shorter distance , or just want to enjoy an active and fun-filled day with family , friends or colleagues , you can also enter the 21km Half Monster , 10km Mini Monster , or 5km Baby Monster . These races will still provide you with a challenge that will test your fitness .
Both the 32km Monster and the 21km Half Monster start at 06:03 . why such a random time ? Well , that ’ s when the sun rises … hence the name , Sunrise Monster . So , it ’ s time to get moving @ sunrise and take on the monster !

In the weeks leading up to the event , title sponsor Medihelp will also run a Spot the Monster competition on www . medihelp . co . za . All you have to do is find one of the Sunrise Monsters hidden around the website , to stand a chance to win one of three Garmin Forerunner 245 music smart watches . There will also be a prize for the greenest Monster on race day , so dress up if you want to win !
ADDITIONAL INFO :
• Limited parking at SABS will be available . Donations to car guards welcome .
• Tog bag area will be available at own risk .
• Cordoned off play area for kids , with jumping castles , obstacle courses and entertainers .
• Water points approximately every 3km along the route – participants are encouraged to use their own pre-filled water bottles and hydration packs , and to run clean , to minimise the impact of the event on the environment .
• Netcare 911 will provide medical support en route as well as at the finish .
• Gun-to-mat timing by Peak Timing – results will be available at www . peaktiming . co . za / results .
• Prizes to top three runners in each category of the 10 , 21.1 and 32km running races .
• Prizes for walkers only in the 10km race .
