ROAD RUNNING athletes that are world class , from the 800 metres all the way up to the marathon . I think that ’ s pretty rare .
of expressions and looks . So , this shoot was really cool . Most of it was just running , acting like I would normally act . I did joke with the crew that I was going to add actress to my resume after this week , because there was a lot of , I guess , role playing !
MA : You ’ ve obviously had a ‘ sneak peek ’ at what ’ s coming up in the adizero range of clothing and shoes , and I know you can ’ t tell us specific , but are you excited about the new range ?
DSE : For sure , and it looks gorgeous ! I feel like every year , adidas somehow manages to outdo their previous range of products , and this year is no different . The colourways are amazing , the products are amazing , and you guys will just have to ‘ stay tuned .’
With hubby Cameron Efurd at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham , UK
MA : The last time we featured you in the mag , you ’ d recently moved to Colorado , and begun training with then steeplechase World Champion Emma Coburn and other world class athletes , so what ’ s happening now in the life of Dom Scott in terms of training and competing in the USA ?
DSE : Yes , a few years ago , my husband and I moved out to Boulder , to train with Joe Bosshard , Emma ’ s husband . Our team calls itself Team Boss , because of Joe ’ s last name , and in the past few years , the team has changed dramatically . We ’ ve gone from three or four girls to 13 , and every athlete is amazing , which makes it super fun , but also at times pretty hard . They ’ re all amazing girls and we get along really well , so I just feel so fortunate that I get to train with
MA : Looking at your 2022 results , on the road you ran a 31:59 PB for 10km and a 1:07:32 PB for the half marathon , which moved you up to third and second respectively on the SA all-time list for women , you clocked a PB 31:00.10 for the 10,000m ( just eight seconds outside the SA Record and second all-time best by a South African ), won the SA 5000m title , added another World Champs appearance , finished fifth ( 5000m ) and seventh ( 10,000m ) at the Commonwealth Games , and there were other great results in between all of that . So , did this rank as a great year for Dom Scott ?
DSE : Yeah , it was a great year . I have learnt through the years that you have to appreciate and enjoy the good days , and there were a lot of good days this past year ! I started 2022 with the Houston Half Marathon in January , which was just my second attempt at the distance . My first half was the previous year , when I ran the Great North Run in the UK , but it was just for fun coming off my track season , to end with something different , so I was very happy with my 1:10:42 finish . I really trained for Houston , with a good eight-week training block leading up to the race , and my ‘ B goal ’ was to break 70 minutes , while my ‘ A goal ’ was to break 69 minutes . I ended up breaking 68 minutes , running 67:32 and coming third in a very competitive international field , so that was an amazing way to start the year .
A few weeks later , I ran a 31-flat for 10,000 metres on the track , and that was a funny one . I was so elated with my time , because it was almost a 20-second PR , after I soloed most of the race , but then , of course , lying in bed that night , I was like , how did I not break 31 minutes ? I had run 31:00.10 ! Still , it was a great race , and showed that we were on the right track , that my body liked the type of training that we were doing , which was a lot more strength work and not as much faster five-kay track work .
Then throughout the year there were a lot of highs and lows . I hadn ’ t won a race in a while , which sounds crazy , so it was fun to get some wins again and remember that winning feeling , but there were also some hard times . I went to the World Championships

Quite Some Year !
