PinkDrive Set to Turn the Cities Pink
T
he Totalsports Women’s Race proudly supports PinkDrive, a
Non-Profit Company (NPC) that is committed to improving
breast cancer awareness and education, and providing free
services to the medically uninsured across South Africa. PinkDrive will
be present at the Totalsports Women’s Race in all three cities, offering
FREE clinical breast examinations and educating on the importance of
self-examinations.
According to Fébé Meyer, PinkDrive Marketing Manager, the
Totalsports Women’s Race is a highlight on PinkDrive’s annual events
calendar. “The significance of hosting this event on Women’s Day
adds so much more meaning to this event,” she says. “This is a day
where women and their families can unite and commemorate not
only National Women’s Day, but also think of those on their journey
with breast cancer. The funds received enable us to keep our existing
fleet on the road, to deliver our free cancer screening services to the
medically uninsured people of South Africa. We are very excited that
Joburg, Durban and Cape Town will take to the streets on the same
day to participate in this phenomenal event.”
Echoing Meyer’s thoughts is Janice Benecke, PinkDrive KZN
Administrator: “We love this race in Durban, and it really is special
seeing a sea of pink take to the streets of our lovely city. Even the
men get dressed up in pink and join in on the fun. Being the official
charity of this event means the world to us, and PinkDrive will have a
Shop4Cancer at registration and on event day, so runners and walkers
can #PimpThemselvesPink.”
“The Totalsports Women’s Race is the perfect opportunity for women
to unite, celebrate the beauty of being a woman and celebrate life,”
says Tenielle October, PinkDrive Cape Town Administrator. “As a
beneficiary, we are empowered to reach more women, raise awareness
and offer our free cancer screening services to women who are not
medically insured. We are looking forward to the excitement, the
atmosphere and the live entertainment, but more so we are looking
forward to meeting new people and hearing their stories.”
Boity Proud to support the Totalsports Women’s Race Johannesburg
Hip Hop sensation Boity (Boitumelo Thulo) will have the runners
bouncing when she closes off the action at the Totalsports Women’s
Race in Johannesburg, and says she is proud to be part of the event. “It
is an honour to perform for women at the Totalsports Women’s Race.
I am a very casual runner, and try get in a run whenever my schedule
allows it, so I admire the dedication regular runners have,” she says.
“Also, we all have loved ones and friends that have been affected by
cancer, so this is a very important initiative and I am proud to be part of
it. I will be performing my new single #OwnYourThrone, which perfectly
fits the theme of the event, and
the runners can expect fun and a
lot of energy.”
More Live Entertainment
South African musician and
dancer, Moonchild Sanelly,
will close off the action of the
Totalsports Women’s Race in
Durban with an energetic live
performance. Meanwhile, the
Totalsports Women’s Race Cape
Town will close off on a high
note with a live performance by
singer-songwriter Paxton.
The Totalsports Women’s Race encourages athletes to run united in
support of PinkDrive, because we are #StrongerTogether.
“I love that the event
supports PinkDrive,
as this highlights the
importance of living a
healthy lifestyle. In all
the running around and
taking care of everyone,
we women often forget
to take care of ourselves.
PinkDrive emphasises
the importance of breast
cancer awareness, and
even conducts tests after
the race. I am delighted that the organisation is the beneficiary of the event.”
