Injury Free!, a programme aimed
at reducing the risk of injury in
runners.

he unique demands of running require optimal
stabilisation, rapid neuromuscular control and elastic
energy transfer. The Power Plate Run Injury Free!
Programme is based on conditioning runners to better
anticipate the impact forces in order to effectively load and
unload the associated energy.
“Because the skin on the bottom of the foot is packed
with small nerve endings, or proprioceptors, of which 80%
are specifically responsive to vibration, this programme
harnesses the body’s response to vibration to effectively
respond to impact forces and reduce running-related injury
risk,” explains Dr Splichal.
Both Power Plate and the Naboso Technology used in this
programme are based on the science of proprioceptors.
Since the feet are the only contact point between the body
and the ground, optimising the sensitivity of the feet and
proprioceptors is key to reducing running-related injuries.
Power Plate generates rapid harmonic vibrations in
three planes of motion, providing an authentic stimulus
to these proprioceptors, and creating a neuromuscular
response that enhances muscle recruitment and motor
learning. Meanwhile, Naboso Technology is a small nerve
proprioceptive mat that is designed to provide optimal
stimulation to the nerves in the feet and hands. Based on
surface science and texture research, the texture on the
Naboso Mat matches that of the proprioceptive distribution
and sensitivity of the feet.
In a series of conditioning programmes, including pre-
activation exercises, foot to core sequencing, and
myofascial tensegrity, the Run Injury Free! Programme
prepares the body to better anticipate the ground reaction
forces, and optimise transfer of elastic energy.

Podiatrist and Human Movement Specialist Dr Emily Splichal is the founder of EBFA Global, creator of the Barefoot
Training Specialist®, BarefootRx® and BARE® Workout Certifications for health and wellness professionals, and founder
of Naboso Technology. She is actively involved in barefoot training research and barefoot education as it relates to
athletic performance, injury prevention and movement longevity.
