I

have reviewed Under Armour gear here in the mag before , and at the risk of repeating myself , a quick disclaimer : I love Under Armour – as far as gym kit goes , they know their stuff ! So , whenever I am given the opportunity to wear-test their training gear , I jump right in , and my first impression of the new Meridian kit was all good . I loved the beautiful light mint green colour ! It ’ s a calming soothing colour , and you feel stylish when putting it on . Also , the patterns on the leggings and the knit of the fabric both have such fine detail that you cannot help to just say “ wow ” when you look at them , and then a bra to match … I was in absolute unpacking heaven , with a grin from ear to ear .
Taking all three items out of their plastic , I was immediately struck by how soft and light they felt – silky is indeed an appropriate description . Then to put the cherry on a magnificent proverbial cake , I also received the UA HOVR Omnia Training

How Soft is Soft ?

Under Armour recently launched the Meridian range , made with material specifically designed for intense training sessions , but comfortable enough to wear the whole day . With tag lines such as “ soft as silk ” and “ our softest fabric , for your toughest workouts ,” I was intrigued , and keen to put the range to the test . – BY ROXANNE MARTIN
shoes , also in the beautiful mint green , which completed my whole ensemble so spectacularly that any gym influencer would have looked at me and been proud .
In terms of the technology behind this collection , the Meridian tech is designed to deliver on Under Amour ’ s promise to provide something you never knew you needed , but can ’ t imagine living without . This specially engineered fabric delivers a unique type of softness that can still wick sweat like a champ , meaning the harder you work and the more you sweat , the dryer you feel . Now , currently , my main form of exercise is Pilates and Pound Fit . Both appear deceptively easy , but actually push your body to the limit , so having comfortable gym gear is a must , and with full confidence that the Meridian collection fitted that brief , I set off to class to put the clothing to the test .

UA MERIDIAN Jacquard Ankle Leggings

I am all for high-waisted leggings , and these did not disappoint , what was even more amazing was … wait for it … how soft they were ! And having pockets on either side , also a big win . Now , being a plus-size woman , with curves ( I believe in all the right places ), the thing that irritates me more than anything is high-waisted leggings that pull down under your tummy , almost like the material revolts when asked to hold your ‘ mum pouch ’ in … but as Under Armour often does , these stayed put , and didn ’ t compress me like spanks would .
Instead , the material moulds to your figure , keeping you comfy in a range of movements , and I found that the clothing is geared for any form of gym , handling anything from Pilates and yoga to CrossFit . It was super refreshing to feel confident in a squat and lunge , not worrying how my pants would roll , and if you are into gym wear as your day wear , I would say these are an absolute win . One day saw me rush straight from Pilates to school for my son ’ s playball graduation , and I felt super comfy , aside from my musky smell , as the leggings really stay dry and soft throughout .

UA MERIDIAN Basic T-shirt

While I loved the shirt as it came out the box , I was initially a bit put off when unfolding it , because it resembled more of a crop top , which is not something I would usually wear . Don ’ t get me wrong , I am comfortable with my body , but having my tummy hang out for all to see … well , that ’ s just a big no-no , in my books . But when wearing the top with the leggings the overall look was rather nice , so feeling a lot more confident than I normally would in such a top , I took the shirt out for its maiden test drive – and I felt comfortable enough in it to run errands in it before hitting the gym .
