EVALUATION
Our Traid pop up was much more successful than I had expected it to be. To start with, our visual merchandising of the mannequins was quite strong and of a good standard; the outfits were well-built and were on trend which was difficult considering that our stock was all second-hand. Our windows evidently drew in a few customers from the public as well as within the college.
Our customer service was also a key contributing factor to the success of our pop up. We were greeting people as they came in with smiles and tried our best to make them feel welcome and comfortable. We also offered to hold items for people while they continued to look around and put them in the fitting room when they were ready to try things on. Moreover, we were all prepared to give customers more information on Traid, their objectives and where money raised goes to.
Personally, I think our group were quite effective on raising awareness on sustainability; all the promotional videos that we made were informative in terms of linking the fashion industry with the environment. Our Marketing team put together a strong broadcast message that we could send on to family and friends as well as posting strong, informative and encouraging content on the Traid Instagram page as part of the day-takeover.
I feel that our pop up and campaign were quite relevant to our audience; we wanted to push forward the fact that you can still be stylish while spending less, donate to charity and working towards a circular economy. Ending the stigma of shopping second hand is important and I feel that we encouraged some college students to branch out and shop in a way that they may not usually shop.
Through this unit, I have learnt that I’m a big lover of shopping second hand; although I already do shop second hand, I now realise how much it can benefit the environment and people around the world if I do it more often. This unit has opened my eyes to the many, many issues that fast fashion causes and has inspired me to donate and sell my unwanted clothes rather than letting them go unworn or throwing them away. I will now think more than twice before buying something in a shop.
