• Nokia uninterested in ‘ rinsing and reusing ’ existing phones , CEO says
By Paul Withers
Nokia president and CEO Stephen Elop has hit out at rival manufacturers , accusing them of “ rinsing and reusing ” previous products rather than giving customers something new .
Elop made the comments during a conference call to discuss the firm ’ s Q2 financial results ( see boxout ) just two days after HTC launched a smaller version of its HTC One handset , the near identical HTC One Mini .

Accessories manufacturer Gusto Telecom Solutions has added Carphone Warehouse and Sainsbury ’ s to the retailers selling its Juice chargers .
The Carphone deal went live this month , with Sainsbury ’ s stocking the products from September . They will go on sale in 500 Carphone stores and 250 Sainsbury ’ s supermarkets in all .
The Juice chargers , which launched last October , are now on sale in more than 2,000 UK retail outlets . These are Dixons Store Group ’ s ( DSGi ) 298 Currys a follow up to its Galaxy S4 handset , the S4 Mini .
Elop said Nokia is focused on differentiating its device range and pointed to the fact it has released a large number of feature phones and smartphones this year .
“ While the market conditions are well documented and challenging , we are focused on delivering meaningful differentiation to consumers ,” Elop said .
“ In the past six months , we have introduced new hardware and software with the launch of the very affordable Asha 105 , the highly social Asha 210 , the competitively priced Lumia 520 , a range of flagship smartphones including the Lumia 925 and 928 and , of course , the gamechanging Lumia 1020 .
“ Some of our principal competitors seem to be rinsing and reusing previous products and not exciting customers as much as I think we are with some of our recent offerings .”
